Firefox 3

Firefox 3 was released on June 17. There were some glitches on that day to download , but it seems to be ok now. I have installed it on my PC and Mac. It worked great so far. Among many other enhancements/new features, I noticed the performance instantly.  Check here for find out new features.

Firefox 3 is Comming!

Almost there, Firefox 3 release candidate 1 is ready to download. Some say that some of the add-ons are not supported in this release candidate. Due to this compatibility issue, I’m waiting for the final version to come. According to some articles, Firefox 3 is much lighter and faster. Here is excerpt:

Mozilla VP of engineering Mike Schroepfer claims that Firefox 3 is 9.3x faster than Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 and 2.7x faster than Firefox 2 in terms of JavaScript performance. In terms of Gmail message load time, he claims Firefox 3 is 6.8x faster than IE7 and 3.8x faster than Firefox 2. And he says Firefox 3 beats Apple’s Safari, which is also faster than Firefox 2.

Remedy for Broken Korean Characters in Firefox

If you are using Firefox on Leopard, you may experienced broken Korean characters when you visit Korean web sites such as naver. Follow the instruction below to fix the issue:

  1. Shutdown Firefox
  2. Open up Applications folder from the finder
  3. Select Firefox
  4. CTRL-Mouse Click or keep two finger on the mouse pad while clicking mouse button
  5. Select Show Package Contents
  6. Change eng.lproj folder to Korean.lproj
